What are IP Phones for small businesses?

Written by admin on August 26, 2010 – 12:20 pm -

Our vendor suggested we switch the small business phones to IP phones. We are expanding from 12 employees to 18. What are IP phones?

An IP phone uses Voice over IP technologies allowing telephone calls to be made over an IP network such as the internet instead of the ordinary phone systems. Basically, the calls are made digitally versus through the traditional analog phone service. The MAIN result, is a cheaper bill to you the consumer. i own a business providing IP phones to businesses and residential customers. If you are interested in converting your system, please email me and i will do a cost analysis for you and tell you what all of your cost for the conversion would be. (jnmccluney@yahoo.com)

I sell various consumer technology products and I need to know what business phone system must I have?

For me, virtual pbx phone system is the best for small business. PBX can be installed easily, besides it has a far more powerful, flexible and automated call answering features, call messaging and call routing.

I own a small business who only deals with customers on phone and internet, I want help with payment systems if i want to have someone sort of payment solution/system where my customers can make payments to me anytime of the day using there bank /credit cards? Where do I go and search..Anyone can help me with this?

Paypal, click2sell, payforit, linkpoint or alertpay. For prompt payment, ensure you automate billing/invoice. Paypal is too big to for most small businesses, and their dispute resolution is almost worthless.

What is the best phone system for a small business?

Written by admin on June 18, 2010 – 5:39 pm -

We have a Verizon Analog system now, and the cost is around $3500. We are looking to lower costs and find something more reliable with easier access for switching lines. The business is a hair salon in NYC and we frequently need to change lines and put people on hold, and transfer them to other people. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The absolute best cost effective solution would be to have it all "digitalised"

I’m sure you know about "skype" and how it works, well it works the other way with "skype-in" which allows phones to call in for a VERY small monthly fee. You could have the other lines around your business as normal skype users on the internet via computer (you can get a skype handset which looks like a normal phone) and should you need to transfer someone onto a different line, you add the specific person to a conference call.

should you need to put people on hold, you can always "mute"

although this can seem a bit of a "hastle" to set up, this is the difference between spending thousands or spending a mere few dollars.

I hope you can understand my method :)

Small business phone number that’s listed in directory assistance?

Written by admin on June 2, 2010 – 1:31 am -

Are there any options for getting a phone number for my business without actually having to go through my local phone company? I have heard of "virtual" numbers that can be forwarded to another "real" phone, but I don’t know of any good companies. Also, I MUST have a service that will be listed in directory assistance for customers and credit verification reasons.

If you’re interested in getting a toll free number it’s best to do a little research on the subject first. There are a lot of companies out there; some are good and some are total scams. You’re going to want to look into ownership of your number. This means going with a company that allows you to keep your number for as long as you, or your business, need it. This also means no contracts as well as the ability to port, or transfer, your number at any time. In my experience the top providers of the most basic service plans would be Opex or TollFreeNumber.org. If you’re looking for a more complex system with extensions or other features VirtualTelecenter.com has that covered with some of the industry’s lowest rates. If you’re just starting out the basic plan should work fine until you feel the need to upgrade. It’s pretty simple and just forwards to any number you’d like. I hope this helps.

What is the best phone service option for a small business?

Written by admin on April 18, 2010 – 2:30 pm -

We are a small business at this present time, but will expand. We want to have call forwarding, music on hold, and just basically be able to not miss a call even if two lines are being used.

Currently, the best way to do that is to use a VoIP phone service like packet8 or Phonepower. But, you need a decent internet connection for that, and you need to make sure you hook the phones into the router ahead of the computers, so that they get access to the bandwidth they need first.

If you don’t have access to high speed internet service, then you are going to want to buy into a service like eVoice, that lets you manage your office through virtual numbers. They are currently offering a free 6 month trial.

I currently run my office with multiple MagicJack accounts that have tollf ree numbers ringing to them. It’s dirt cheap, and the service is great.

Difference between small business and personal phone line plans for business use?

Written by admin on March 27, 2010 – 9:37 am -

I’m running a small business out of my home (music lessons) and I would like to get a new phone number for the business. I use Vonage as my home phone service so I would like to add the second line through Vonage as well. An unlimited business line costs $50/mo but another personal line would be only $26/mo. The only real difference I see is that the business line comes with a free dedicated fax line, but someone free shouldn’t be doubling the price. Other phone business seem to charge significantly more for small business phone service too. Anyone know why? Why shouldn’t I just get a personal plan for my small business?

reason being is that it will include listing your business into several business directories worldwide.

Business volume is also higher.

Your caller ID will state your business name.

Steer clear of the whole thing, you don’t need it.

Grab a fax number for $9 /mo from RingCentral and call it a day.
